What to tell yourself when you are procrastinating

September 8

Procrastination is often due to fear.

Fear is based on real threats, or past threats that feels real.

I have explored a few way to get passed procrastination.

The first thing I tried is to program the nudge clock with sentences like these:

What do you fear?
How would you feel if you acted now?
Should you be afraid of emotions based on false information?
Forget the worst-case scenario, think best-case scenario.
Stop thinking for a minute.

But it didn't work that way.  (The solution is below).

You don't beat fear with fear.

You beat fear by not talking about it.  By talking about positive things.

What is the best-case scenario?
What is the best-case scenario?
What is the next best-case scenario?
What would calm people say about taking action.

What kind word can you say about yourself?
Can you stop thinking for a few minutes and see how it feels.
What would you say to someone procrastinating?
Can you start for 10 seconds and take a 50 second break?
Love yourself now.
Ignore any negative things that could happen.

What's are 3 good things that will happen after you finish?
Imagine a team of people supporting you.

Work 10 seconds
Work 15 seconds
Work 20 seconds
Work 25 seconds
Work 30 seconds
Work 40 seconds
Work 50 seconds
